Day 11
Visit Punakha dzong and Chimi gompa

After an easy start, we will visit Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. The Punakha dzong that straddles the confluence of two rivers is one of the most graceful and beautiful in the whole of the country. Its main meditation hall houses some of the most exquisite Tibetan Buddhist religious art anywhere in the world and the dzong itself has played a vital role in the history of Bhutan. It is not to be missed.

Chimi gompa will be our final stop for the day. Founded by Bhutan’s most loved saint, the Divine Madman Drukpa Kuenley, and built on the breast of a demoness who was terrorising the valley, it is a gompa associated with fertility and a place women will visit to help them give birth. We will return to our riverside resort to spend our last night there.
