bhutan motorbikes & meditation - travel details

23 day itinerary
monday october 24th 2011 – tuesday november 15th 2011

accommodation:

I have chosen a mix of hotel accommodation for our whole journey in comfortable and welcoming hotels and lodges. All accommodation in hotels is twin share. However it will be possible to arrange for your own single hotel room for an additional charge. Bhutan

meals:

In Delhi, breakfast is included in the tour price. In Siliguri, Bhutan and Meghalaya, all meals are included in the tour price. All our meals are buffet-style and have a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Generally people are surprised at just how delicious the food is in Bhutan!

transport:

All fuel and basic maintenance charges are included in the tour price. We will have Toyota SUV’s for any pillion or non-riding participants and another vehicle to transport our luggage.

health:

Everyone should have a good general level of health and physical fitness for this journey. Please consult with your preferred medical practitioner and get advice on any vaccinations you may wish to have before the journey starts. We will be carrying our own first aid kit that will be able to deal with most problems plus Diamox and homeopathic pills to alleviate any mild altitude symptoms.

driver’s license:

You will have to bring a valid motorcycle driving license from your own country plus an international driving license.

equipment:

All riders will need to bring their own protective clothing and wet weather gear including a helmet.

road conditions:

All motorbike riders should be able to confidently handle their bike in any conditions. For the two days that we will be riding in India, there will be some bumpy and busy roads and all riders should feel comfortable enough with their riding skills to handle Indian traffic! The roads in Bhutan are really very well-paved with the exception of some sections that lead us up from and back down to the Indian plains. Bhutan has very little traffic but the mountain roads come with many blind curves and need to be driven at an intelligent pace.

deposit:

All the rental motorbikes will have third party insurance cover. However riders are responsible for all damage to their motorbikes whilst in their possession excluding mechanical failure. Each rider will need to make an advance cash deposit of €500.00 to cover any possible damage to the motorcycle as well as the insurance deductible in the event of any accident or third party injury. This payment will be returned at the end of the journey provided the motorcycle is in good condition.

insurance:
Any motorcycle journey involves the possibility of accident or injury and we will be driving in both busy and remote areas within India and Bhutan. To protect everyone involved, every participant must have adequate travel, health and accident insurance to participate in the journey and I will need to see the relevant policies before we start. Please get in touch with an insurance agent to take out the required policies.
